Technical Filters

Precision light control is the backbone of visual storytelling. Our technical filters solve common lighting problems—correcting colour temperature, shaping intensity—for professional, consistent results. Used by cinematographers, gaffers, lighting designers, and popular in architectural lighting, research and conservation.

Colour Correction: Tungsten to Daylight, Daylight to Tungsten, Tungsten to Fluorescent, plus Plus Green/Minus Green fine-tuning.

Light Shaping: Soften shadows with Diffusion; cut intensity with Neutral Density.

Studio Essentials: Replicate cityscapes with Urban Effects; manage spill using Reflectors and Scrims.

Light Protection: UV Gels block ultra-violet light to prevent fading in galleries and museums.

Creative Uses

Primarily used by cinematographers, gaffers, and lighting designers to achieve precise control over light sources. They are essential for anyone needing to balance colour temperatures, reduce intensity without changing colour (ND), or block specific wavelengths like UV in architectural and scientific settings.

  • Colour Temperature Blue (CTB) Converts Tungsten to Daylight. Used to "cool down" warm sources to match natural light. Available in 7 strengths: 200 (Double) through to 218 (Eighth).

  • Colour Temperature Orange (CTO) Converts Daylight to Tungsten. Used to warm up cool sources or flatter skin tones. Includes 207 and 208 (CTO combined with ND) to save time and reduce waste. Available in 8 varieties: 287 (Double) through to 223 (Eighth).

  • Colour Temperature Straw (CTS) A yellower, more natural alternative to CTO for a "sunny" daylight feel. Available in 4 strengths: 441 (Full) through to 444 (Eighth).

  • Neutral Density (ND) Essential for controlling exposure and depth of field without changing colour. Range: 298 (0.5 stop) up to 299 (4 stops). Every 1 stop reduces light by 50%.

  • Fluorescent & Discharge Correction Precision tools to match or correct industrial lighting (HMI, Metal Halide, Sodium). Includes: 241-243 (Fluorescent range) and 236 (HMI to Tungsten).

  • Minus Green (Magenta) Eliminates the unwanted green cast created by discharge sources and LEDs to create healthier skin tones. Available in 4 strengths: 247 (Full) through to 279 (Eighth).

  • Plus Green The opposite of Minus Green; adds a controlled green tint to match lighting to existing fluorescent or architectural fixtures. Available in 4 strengths: 244 (Full) through to 278 (Eighth).

  • UV Absorption & Polarisation LEE UV (226 & 213) removes invisible UV energy to clean up whites, while the Polariser gel controls surface glare and reflections at the source.
